THE OPPORTUNITY

Job Title: Sales Manager

Reports to: Vice President, Sales US

Direct Reports: Multiple Sales Agents

Location: Mid/North East United States, Minneapolis, Chicago etc.

Travel: 50-60%

 

THE MANDATE

Canarm is currently seeking a Sales Manager in the North Eastern area of the United States for their Lighting and Ceiling Fan division.  Canarm’s Lighting division in North American has a broad reach as they are aligned with over thirty agents who sell their products to wholesalers, retailers and commercial accounts.  Year over year this division has been growing 16% and while they have been successful in a variety of markets they still have room for growth in this region. The Sales Manager will have a proven track record of developing sales opportunities in new channels while working closely with a group of sales agents.  They will be responsible for generating new business as well as maintaining and expanding existing accounts.

Key Accountabilities

  • Responsible for the development, implementation, and recommendation of sales strategies for the assigned region
  • Manage the sales agent network and focus them on creating demand
    for Canarm Lighting products
  • Work closely with corporate colleagues to drive profitability for the brand
  • Manage critical developing client accounts and coordinate the management of all other accounts
  • Manage the region’s budget and assist in devising a plan to achieve maximum
    profitability and sales
  • Direct the preparation, issuance and delivery of sales & marketing materials, exhibits, and promotion programs for the region
  • Analyze and interpret industry, market and competitive trends
  • Create sales development strategies for products, industries, and markets and expand Canarm’s penetration with the assistance of the agents in the Region
  • Manage the region’s sales agents including the on-boarding of new agents to insure immediate success
  • Intelligence gathering on competition, markets and customers
  • Keeping up to date on market trends and new products needed for success

 

CANDIDATE PROFILE

The successful candidate will have the following:

Education

  • Diploma or Degree in Business or equivalent

Experience

  • Min 7+ years of sales experience for a manufacturer of lighting or other electrical/building material products
  • Previous experience as a Regional/District Sales Manager overseeing an agent network

Competencies and Attributes

  • Extreme comfort in communicating with every level of an organization from top level executives to field personnel
  • Strong business acumen and negotiation skills
  • High level of leadership capabilities with the ability to influence without authority
  • Financially competent with respect to managing the region’s budget and analysis of region performance
  • Skilled communicator both written and verbal
  • Strong relationship building skills
  • High level of integrity and ethics
  • No relocation required
  • Understands business implications of decisions; Demonstrates knowledge of market and competition; Aligns work with strategic goals
  • Displays willingness to make decisions; Exhibits sound and accurate judgment
  • Takes responsibility for own actions
  • Displays capacity for growth and potential leadership succession
  • Managing on-going large Home Center operations and sales
