THE OPPORTUNITY

Job Title:Research Director
Reports to:EVP & Managing Director – Edmonton
Team:2-3 Research Analysts
Location:Edmonton, AB

 

 

THE MANDATE

New to the Edmonton team, the Research Director will lead a team of 2-3 Research Analysts and be responsible for the collection, distribution and analysis of key local economic and real estate information. The Research Director will compile analysis and write white papers, discussion papers and produce thought leadership on a wide range of topics including occupancy levels, vacancy levels, lease comparables, inducements, local unemployment, job growth, price of oil etc.

Embedded within the Edmonton community, the Research Director will have a great understand of the local economy and will provide leadership to a team of analysts to elevate the research division of CBRE.

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Review and evaluate data collected by team ensuring accuracy and comprehensiveness of research data and analysis;
  • Provide research support for pitches and presentations;
  • Oversee the regular maintenance of property database including supervising telephone and on-site surveys, research forums, broker meets etc.;
  • Produce quarterly reports and white papers; and
  • Analyze market trends and incorporate findings into presentations, reports and papers.

 

CANDIDATE PROFILE

The successful candidate will have the following:

Education

  • Post-secondary education in statistic, economics or related.

 

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years’ related work experience;
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with Microsoft Excel;
  • Previous experience leading a team; and
  • Prior Real Estate industry experience would be considered an asset.

  • Exhibits a sense of confidence, strong interpersonal skills and teamwork focused attitude;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Strong organizational skills;
  • Superior analytical skills;
  • Strong financial acumen with ability to calculate intermediate figures such as percentages, discounts, and/or commissions;
  • Demonstrated strength in ability to manage multiple competing priorities;
  • Strength writing routine reports and correspondence along with other internal and external communications as needed; and
  • Comfort presenting information to an internal department or large groups of employees.
