    Regional Vice President, Sales – Canada | Confidential Search

    The Opportunity

    Reports to:Vice President, Sales – North America
    Direct Reports:5 – Account Executives
    Location:Edmonton, AB or Calgary, AB

     

    Mandate

    The Regional Vice President, Sales – Canada (“Vice President Sales”) is a key member of the company’s leadership team and will drive regional growth in pursuit of the company’s overall strategic objectives. As the leader of the Canadian sales team, the Vice President Sales will offer leadership, mentorship and guidance to achieve both personal and team production targets.

    The successful candidate will assess the sales team’s performance, analyze current sales processes and strategize opportunities to increase sales revenue. The Vice President Sales will achieve success through exhibiting exceptional leadership, fostering the company’s award winning culture and demonstrating a commitment to delivering an exceptional customer experience.

    Key Accountabilities

    The position will include the following responsibilities:

    Strategic Leadership

    • Create and deliver region specific sales strategy in alignment with overall company growth strategy;
    • Ensure the delivery of an exceptional customer experience consistent with company culture and values;
    • Collaboration with leadership team on strategic projects to drive growth; and
    • Represent the company at relevant industry functions and events to expand brand awareness and capitalize on opportunity for new business development.

     

    People Leadership

    • Develop, lead and mentor the Canadian sales team to the highest standards in the industry by providing regular performance reviews, training and ongoing development to ensure their growth and achievement of goals;
    • Provide leadership to the regional sales team demonstrative effective planning, prospecting and closing strategies;
    • Provide clear direction and establish clear and achievable metrics for success; and
    • Identify, recruit and onboard top talent as needed to deliver results.

     

    Sales Leadership

    • Identity new sales opportunities and construct comprehensive execution strategies;
    • Optimize the sales cycle process identifying opportunities for improvement and cross-border (Canada/US) collaboration; and
    • Drive to exceed sales targets through the effective day to day management of the full sales cycle and account management tasks from prospecting to client retention.

    Success in the first year will be determined by the candidate’s ability to:

    • Build trusting, open, collaborative and respectful relationships throughout the organization with employees and leaders;
    • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the organization and the services they provide;
    • Create and deliver a comprehensive sales strategy to achieve corporate growth targets; and
    • Demonstrate excellence in leadership providing clear mentorship and direction to sales team.

     

    Candidate Profile

    The successful candidate will have the following:

    Education:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline; and
    • MBA or other advanced degree would be considered an asset.

     

    Experience:

    • Minimum 7+ years of successful outside sales experience;
    • Track record of success leading and mentoring a team of outsides sales professionals;
    • Experience achieving sales results within an organization with a recurring revenue model (ie. software as a service) or related industry;
    • Demonstrated commitment to community involvement activities (ie. volunteering, serving on a Board, building community relationships etc.).

    • Forward Strategic Thinker: Stays abreast of the best practices, new trends and technology to provide strategic direction and make informed recommendations.
    • Relationship Builder: Ability to identify and initiate working relationships and to develop and maintain them in a way that is of mutual benefit to both parties.  Good relationships are the key to getting things done and are essential when your success is dependent on others.
    • Strategic Leadership: Fosters the development of a common vision providing clear direction and priorities and clarifying roles and responsibilities. Sets the tone for the organizations culture and ensures succession in management and leadership. Leads a dynamic, fast paced team that prospers within the unique company culture.
    • Strategic Planning: Develops short and long-range plans that are comprehensive, creative, realistic and effective in meeting and exceeding goals and objectives and integrates planning efforts across functions.
