Key Accountabilities

Human Resource management – multiple FTE vacancies with turnover require diligent oversight to maintain constant and consistent onboarding – do not like when mangers use casuals and part time to cover vacancies because it really puts the department at risk when surge or sick time is high.  I expect every line is accounted for, backfilled accordingly and casual are kept to their casual status and available on short notice.  Human Resource management includes working collaborative and proactive way with HR advisor to manage union issues, progressive discipline, etc.

Management of Team Dynamics – pulse on the morale of the department; strong visibility model; in favor of one-on-one discussions and supporting the team through rounding.

Navigation and cultivating of relationships with all team members and physicians and strong conflict mitigation.

Communications – Excels in a coach approach for development and support.  Focus on communication around a safety issue, risk issue or patient quality of care issue so a requirement to be willing to communicate with the Director and Chief on these is key for the successful candidate.

Strong Financial oversight with innovation lens on ways models and processes can be shifted to provide financial and human resource efficiency – understanding of financial documents, spreadsheets, and revenue streams.

Team engagement –Manager who coaches leaders from the front line and shares the responsibility – both for staff satisfaction and development – Believes that team members need to be trusted and nurtured versus “managed” – change initiatives need to involve all members and Chief to ensure buy in and success.

Organization skills are exceptional – and able to determine what can be left till later.

Strong data analytics – MSH uses data and P4R indicators to measure success.  The successful candidate must use data to inform priorities and measures of success and understand how P4R works.

Strong capacity to work with access and flow and how efficiency in the department impacts funding and organizational effectiveness.

Strong clinical and best practice oversight – where they fall short, how do they resource this – so filling the gaps with other resources.
