Job Title: Environmental Compliance Analyst

Reports to: Environmental Compliance Manger

Location: California or Western Canada



The organization is seeking an Environmental Compliance Analyst to be based in California or Western Canada. Reporting to the Environmental Compliance Manger, the Environmental Compliance Analyst will be responsible for supporting all aspects of environmental and regulatory compliance related to the organization’s operations. The Environmental Compliance Analyst will also be responsible for disposition site review and assessment function throughout North America as well as other tasks that are supported by the Environmental Department and the Environmental Compliance Manager. This is a full-time, permanent position.

Key Accountabilities

  • Ensure compliance with all environmental regulations and permits under USEPA, Ministry of Environment (MOE) and various state, provincial, and local regulating entities applicable to operations
  • Follow policies and procedures to ensure compliance with the environmental disposition program for worksites and facilities
  • Ensure compliance with high safety and service standards
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with field operation personnel resulting in high levels of environmental compliance
  • Manage and maintain environment regulatory compliance for disposition sites and maintain associated records
  • Provide support services for the entire lifecycle of the disposition site program for client sites and other designated areas
  • Assist the Environmental Compliance Manager with required, random and/or routine environmental compliance audits
  • Assist the Environmental Compliance Manger to identify performance issues, develop corrective action plans and monitor completion of audit findings
  • Assist the Environmental Compliance Manager in developing training programs
  • Assist the Environmental Compliance Manager in identifying regulations pertinent to our clients operations as well as update and maintain regulatory records maintaining to these operations
  • Provide other Environmental Compliance and operational support as needed



Success in the first year will be determined by the candidate’s ability to:

  • Gain a strong understanding of the business and North American operations
  • Develop an understanding of how our environmental policy is designed to mitigate our operating risk
  • Adapt to a fast paced, evolving work environment
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders and visit worksites and facilities to assess and monitor for contamination
  • Learn and understand how USEPA regulations and permits impact our operations and ensure we are operating within a compliant manner



The successful candidate will have the following:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, engineering, Geology, Safety or related field of education from an accredited university


  • A minimum of 2+ years of professional experience in an environment regulatory capacity
  • Knowledge and awareness of Ministry of Environment (MOE) regulations, knowledge of United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) regulations is seen as an additional asset
  • Ability to prepare environmental reports and spreadsheets related to national, state, and local requirements related to our client’s operations
  • Exposure to phase 1 environmental assessment and monitoring

  • Excellent analytical skills; ability to gather and assess information against identified criteria or parameters, and provide recommendations, analyses, or conclusions which are supported by the information presented
  • Ability to work autonomously as direct manager will be based in another location
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative work style
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficient computer skills (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, internet searches)
  • Dedicated and self-directed while at the same time able to ask for assistance when needed
  • Ability to follow established procedures with minimal amount of direct supervision
  • Ability to travel up to 25-30% to visit sites and
