The Electrical Manager will report directly to the General Manager and is responsible for managing all aspects of electrical estimating and operational contracts as well as safely delivering the projects to specification, on schedule, on budget, while building and maintaining excellent relations with our clients.  The successful individual will bring a strong industrial/electrical background that is highlighted by an exhibited background that has met or exceeded project mandates on a consistent basis.


The position will include the following responsibilities:


  • Monitor and control the day to day of all electrical tenders and operational contracts.
  • Supervise electrical staff of 5 including allocation and control of work.
  • Attend divisional management meetings and prepare and present reports as necessary.
  • Mentor & encourage development of all levels of staff to their fullest potential with various training initiatives (technical and managerial).
  • Review areas of concern, progress and schedules for all ongoing projects and initiate corrective actions with project team / client to resolve accordingly.
  • Work effectively with other divisions (civil, mechanical and piping), to leverage business opportunities and augment a multi-service offering.
  • Provide support and expertise in preparation of all proposals.
  • Develop and improve department tools and work instructions on a continuous basis and ensure that safety is paramount in all efforts.
  • Maintain good relationships with clients regarding their feedback and input.
  • Work with any pertinent feedback to enhance the service offering on future business. 


  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Project Management and Electrical Estimating experience with a focus on industrial construction sites and managing operations.
  • The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a managerial or leadership role and show an ability to provide guidance and direction of resources as required.
  • Candidates are required to have experience managing projects with $10 Mil + scope.
  • Operational budgeting experience would be an asset.
  • Exposure to a diverse industrial customer mix (i.e. mining, hydro, pulp and paper, remote locations etc.).
  • Strong business acumen coupled with excellent problem-solving ability and analytical skills.
  • Highly organized coupled with an excellent planning and budgeting experience base.
  • Hands on and able to lead by example, while also delegating effectively through working with direct reports and key stakeholders.
  • Engaged, invested and prepared to take ownership of the role. Willing to travel as required to address project issues as customer sites are based in various locations around the country.
  • P Eng. or post-secondary education, Red Seal Electrician, PMP and GSC would be considered an asset.
  • Advanced MS Office, Excel & Accubid skills are required. 


  • Assumed active leadership of the group and managed all critical deliverables for electrical estimating and project management.
  • Have earned the respect and trust of peers and the executive team and seen as a positive contributor to the group.
  • Effectively endeared themselves to key existing clients and played an integral part in the introduction of net new customers.
  • Integrated with the other divisions within the Industrial Group and positively worked to leverage customers where applicable
