KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Based in Montreal and reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer you will be responsible for the planning, direction, execution, and monitoring of all activities and processes supporting the effective management of the firm’s human resources. Key areas of responsibility are employee relations & engagement, performance management, compensation management, training & development, recruitment & retention, recognition & rewards, and providing strategic advice to the business in relation to human resources.

As a key advisor to the business and integral member of the Corporate Services Team, you will represent the human resources perspective with strength and balance on strategic and operational issues. The Director, Human Resources is a hands-on role that is expected to provide the strategic leadership and tactical support necessary to build the human resources function in a manner that will enable the firm to achieve its long-term growth objectives.

With respect to the application of core human resources best practices, policies, processes, and tools, you will provide timely and strategic advice, coaching, and support to the Leadership Team and Supervisors. You will also ensure they are competitive and aligned to Optimum Talent’s vision, mission, values and strategic plan and you will update and maintain a process to ensure policies are circulated, communicated, and outdated policies revised.

You will also be in charge to develop and support the delivery of recruitment & retention strategies, on boarding and departure programs to effectively support all practices and markets. You will ensure a competitive total compensation package for all colleagues, and oversee the administration of such, including group benefits and RRSP programs;

With respect to performance and development, you will support Supervisors managing the performance of their teams, and all colleagues in the creation, execution and measurement of annual career development plans. You will ensure the effective and meaningful delivery of diverse training and development programs across the firm, alongside support of subject matter expert.

CHALLENGE

In a context of growth, you will be expected to effectively engage with the Leadership Team to support the firm’s achievement of strategic objectives. You will need to be continuously developing and improving the human resources function in a culture that values client service, responsiveness to client issues, and proactive solutions. Moreover, you will collaborate with the Corporate Services Team to maximize the effectiveness of all human resources initiatives, in recognition of the interrelated nature of the Corporate Services function.

KEY COMPETENCIES

  • Possess an undergraduate degree in human resources or other related discipline;
  • Chartered Professionals in Human Resources (CPHR) designation.
  • A minimum 10 years of progressively complex human resources generalist experience including a minimum of 2 years of management experience assessing/strategically planning human resources services;
  • Experience contributing to an environment that is constantly changing, rapidly growing, and has multiple stakeholders;
  • Experience with multiple geographic locations as it relates to labor standards;
  • Experience in the professional services industry is an asset;
  • Clarity on the role of a human resources function and how it might act as an enabler for an organization;
  • Self-directed with the ability to manage multiple priorities and perspectives;
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to assess complex scenarios efficiently keeping critical objectives at the forefront;
  • A demonstrated ability to understand, effect and influence change;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Able to make difficult decisions efficiently;
  • Superior planning, organizational, and process improvement skills;
  • Excellent ability to comprehend and relate to people at all levels of the company while providing coaching, support, and guidance;
  • An individual with unquestioned business ethics and personal integrity;
  • Bilingualism essential (written and spoken).
