Director, Development & Community Relations – Catholic Social Services

In 1961, the Catholic Archdiocese of Edmonton recognized several needs in the community that were not being met by existing resources. With a directive from the Archdiocese to help those in the community who need it most, Catholic Social Services was established, and over 50 years later, it continues to offer compassion, support, and consolation in the community.  Starting with a small staff that offered only family and child services in Edmonton, the Agency has grown over the years to provide a variety of services throughout Central Alberta.  Working with an annual operating budget of $94 million, the Agency receives funding through government and public grants, with the remainder of the funds coming from donations and client revenue.  The Agency employs over 1800 individuals and is further served by more than 600 volunteers.

Catholic Social Services is the charitable service delivery arm of the Archdiocese of Edmonton and offers over 100 different programs. Examples include support for women leaving abusive relationships, helping homeless youth rebuild their lives, and enabling people with disabilities to live life to its fullest. Catholic Social Services also offers support for the settlement of immigrants and refugees, provides counselling that strengthens families and relationships, helps recovering addicts, and supports women facing crisis pregnancies.

As a Catholic social services agency, we are guided by faith to care for and bring hope to people in need with humility, compassion and respect.

The Agency carries out this mission with compassion and competence, and in accordance with the social teachings, values and principles of the Catholic Church, while serving and employing people of all faiths or no faith.   Catholic Social Services welcomes and celebrates the diversity of their employees and volunteers who choose to work with the Agency in support of their mission, values, and principles.
