MANDATE

Bryan and Company is currently seeking one lawyer to join its Corporate/Commercial team in their downtown Edmonton office.  This role will work closely with senior lawyers in the firm’s varied corporate/commercial practice. As a part of that work you will have an opportunity to work with corporate lawyers that also deal with estate planning for the principals of their corporate clients. The position will provide the opportunity and support to develop your own clients..

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

The following responsibilities are key to this role:

  • Providing practical legal advice and support on business matters in a fast-paced environment.
  • Handling a wide variety of files independently but with the support and supervision of senior lawyers
  • Reviewing, drafting and negotiating a variety of commercial agreements such as vendor/procurement or sales/service agreements, non-disclosure agreements and licensing, distribution and manufacturing agreements.
  • Maintaining a high level of professionalism and outstanding business judgement with an innovative approach to legal issues in support of strategic business initiatives and objectives, and;.
  • Other duties as assigned from time to time.

 

FIRST YEAR DELIVERABLES / MEASURES OF SUCCESS

  • Develop strong relationships with clients/partners and has started to become trusted advisor; and
  • Demonstrate ability as a problem solver.

 

CANDIDATE PROFILE

It is critical that the successful candidate possess the following:

The ideal candidate will be able to both work as part of a team and independently with a focus on providing excellent client service. The firm offers a collegial and supportive environment, interesting, diverse and challenging work. They provide comprehensive legal services for a large base of clients, with a focus on service and professional excellence.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Have three to six years of experience practicing commercial, construction, insurance or employment litigation
  • LL.B or J.D and be a member in good standing of the Law Society of Alberta.
