THE ORGANIZATION
In 1974, a small group of people came together to form the Citizens’ Advisory Committee to address social concerns on the Saanich Peninsula. Over the many years that followed, the charity evolved and grew to what today, is known as Beacon Community Services.
Beacon Community Services is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to serving thousands of people in the Southern Vancouver Island and the outer Gulf Islands. Woven into the fabrics of these communities, their diverse range of services and care programs span every stage of life from Employment Services, Volunteer Services, Senior Care, Services for Children, Youth and Families, Mental Health and Counselling Services, Seniors Activity Centers and Thrift Shops. Additionally, Beacon Community Services is proud to encompass 12 First Nation communities supporting a culture that is diverse in tradition and history.
Humble and giving, the family of nearly 1,000 staff and volunteers are dedicated to serving the community in a variety of ways across a variety of programs. Beacon Community Services’ true north star is to help people in need.

Beacon Community Services is in search of an inspiring, collaborative, visionary and philanthropic leader to join the organization as its next Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO assumes the key leadership position, having overall responsibility for the management and strategic direction of the organization. Beacon Community Services has a wide capacity to scale-up services and programs in traditional and innovative ways. This is an opportunity for a growth-mindset leader to harness the established successes and strategically build for the betterment of the people and its communities.
THE MANDATE
The CEO is the inspirational voice of Beacon, who passionately and artfully articulates the growth strategy and vision to existing and future community stakeholders and partners. The CEO embraces change and is motivated by the significant opportunities ahead to proactively grow a diverse range of services and programs in an organization that has strong and well-established roots within the community. Trusting and empathetic in nature, the CEO understands the nuances and unique needs of the various portfolios and business units, and will utilize resilience, critical thinking and influence to achieve the strategic initiatives and organizational goals to grow the organization and its people.
The CEO is a transformational leader, accustomed to engaging and navigating complexity. An experienced, credible and thoughtful leader, the CEO models the way through visible leadership and makes great effort to personally connect with the culture of the organization, cultivating an environment that is safe, trusting and inclusive to the many diverse groups and communities. The CEO will effectively and astutely influence and advocate on behalf of Beacon Community Services with pride.
