Industry Council Member, Paint | Alberta Recycling Management Authority
The Organization
The Alberta Recycling Management Authority (ARMA) acts on behalf of the province to oversee end-of-life processing of tires, electronics, paint, and used oil materials. Our industry is rooted in the principle of circular economy, where resources and products are kept in use for as long as possible and regenerated into new materials at the end of their life cycle. ARMA is accountable to the Minister of Environment and Protected Areas and, hence, to the people of Alberta.

The Opportunity
Mandate
ARMA is governed by a Board of Directors that represent a broad spectrum of interested parties. In addition to the Board of Directors, there are four Designated Material Industry Councils (Electronics, Paint, Tires and Used Oil) who provide industry insight and recommendations on key aspects of each program to the ARMA administration and Board of Directors. This allows key participants to be directly involved in the development of sound, effective approaches for managing the paint materials.
ARMA is seeking a paint industry professional to join the Paint Industry Council as Chair. This Council provides insight and recommendations to ARMA and the Board of Directors for the development of environmentally sound and effective approaches for managing paint materials. The Council will meet as often as required to provide effective governance and oversight to the Board.
Council Member terms are appointed annually with a maximum of nine years served. Currently, Industry Council Members meet three times per year in February, June, and October during regular business hours. It is preferable that members attend in-person as much as possible, although virtual attendance can be accommodated. One meeting per year will consist of an on-site tour of a relevant facility.
