Established in 1959, CDSPI is a not-for-profit company, whose members are the Canadian Dental Association, and participating provincial and territorial dental associations. The organization provides advisory insurance and investment services tailored to meet the changing needs and enhance the financial wellness of dentists at every stage, from dental school to retirement and beyond.

Client Solutions & Product Innovation

The Client Solutions & Product Innovation Department is a brand-new team with a mandate to drive innovative, unique and relevant products and solutions to advance the financial well-being of dentists in Canada. The team champions innovation, with a keen focus on developing great client solutions which continue to serve the dental community of the past and the future.

Mandate

Reporting to the Vice President, Client Solutions and Product Innovation, the Product Development and Innovation Manager plays an integral role in this newly created department by ensuring that there is a broad and meaningful range of solutions which anticipates and meets the needs of the dental community.  They will develop client focused solutions that are easy to understand, provide value and promote growth.

Key Accountabilities

The position will include the following responsibilities:

  • Lead the product management, development and innovation of products and services throughout the product lifecycle
  • Develop product/solution briefs for new ideas, including product specifications, to give a clear and focused outline to leaders or other team members
  • Augment the product/services suite as well as enhance existing products that may need a “refresh” to maintain competitive positioning and be responsive to client needs
  • Leverage research and analyze data and insights along with creating a competitive market scan to make informed recommendations on solutions
  • Assess new ideas against a strong understanding of what clients are looking for while keeping customer experience at the forefront
  • Champion product vision by providing leadership and expertise to the many other roles involved in developing, implementing, administering, marketing, and selling the products and services to the dental community
  • Work collaboratively and partner with internal stakeholders and departments including but not limited to compliance, finance, administration, marketing, and advisory services
  • Build and manage relationships with existing strategic partners to manage changes/enhancements to products to remain competitive
  • Leverage the data and reporting to make effective business decisions and recommendations and be recognized as a subject matter expert
  • Support the development of a product road map that is market and client driven

 

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will have the following:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience
  • PMP designation or working towards designation

 

Experience:

  • 5-7 years of experience working in a product development role
  • Developed products and solutions from ideation to implementation including enhancing existing product suites
  • Led product strategies and decisions using data driven insights
  • Knowledge of insurance or financial services product pricing and the product development process.

  • Proven project management skills and ability to organize complex tasks and set priorities in a dynamic, changing environment with a range of stakeholders
  • Superior communication and inter-personal skills including developing and delivering presentations
  • Ability to work effectively and constructively build relationships with a variety of internal stakeholders
  • Strong client focus with a passion for challenging the status quo
  • Well-developed critical, problem solving and continuous improvement skills
  • Thinks outside-the-box to implement creative solutions, enhancements, and innovation
  • Quickly learns and understands complex matters using strong analytical skills
  • Solid professionalism, business acumen and complete discretion
  • Strategic thinker who is customer experience-oriented, self-directed and able to adapt quickly
  • Superior skills in Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Embraces a culture of ownership with the desire to continually improve and try new things.
