Business Unit Leader, The Luminaires Group

Its products are marketed towards architects, landscape architects, interior designers and engineers through five lighting brands: a-light, Cyclone, Eureka, Luminaire LED and Luminis. The Luminaires Group was recently acquired by Acuity Brands, Inc, the North American market leader and one of the world’s leading providers of lighting and building management solutions. With fiscal year 2018 net sales of $3.7 billion USD, Acuity Brands currently employs approximately 12,000 associates and is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia with operations throughout North America, and in Europe and Asia.


Reporting to the Vice-President and General Manager of TLG, you will be responsible for the P&L of the assigned Business Unit (Eureka Lighting) which employs some 90 people. You will contribute to define goals and budgets for product growth and margins. You work collaboratively with functional leaders to ensure growth strategies are established and aligned to drive go-to-market strategies. You develop strong business relationships with key executive level influencers within the existing customer base, prospective customers, vendors and channel partners. You provide leadership in the development of short and long-term strategic planning,


You will participle in establishing the strategic direction for growth potential, margin and new market penetration. In addition, you will promote organizational values (diligence, team, performance, customer experience and innovation), while ensuring proactive and sustained communications. You will value employee output and maximize the company’s profitability through high standards and clear goals.


  • Bachelor of Business Administration or any other relevant field
  • Minimum of 12 years’ experience in a similar role involving management, product development and operational responsibilities in a manufacturing environment in addition to P&L accountability.
  • Proven track record of hiring and building high-performance teams
  • Market understanding executed through the four Ps (product, price, place, promotion) and brand management experience
  • Customer-oriented mindset
  • Excellent business mind with a global strategic vision
  • Demonstrated leadership skills based on excellence, efficiency and productivity, using an approach of mobilization and continuous performance improvement
  • Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines and produce a high volume of deliverables; rigor and care for details
  • Autonomous person with an innovative, dynamic and creative spirit
  • Excellent communicator, team player and ability to bring people together
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and French
