BMO’s A&D Advisory team is integrated with BMO Financial Group’s Investment & Corporate Banking finance partners to provide industry-leading services for mergers and acquisitions in the energy industry. BMO’s A&D Advisory team of professional engineers, geologists, and other specialists provides technical and market expertise to help clients evaluate and execute potential acquisitions or maximize value for dispositions.   The BMO A&D Advisory team is highly experienced and has executed hundreds of asset and corporate mandates for domestic and international clients across all areas of western Canada and beyond.

 

THE OPPORTUNITY

Job Title:Associate, A&D Engineer

Reports to:Co-Head & Managing Director, A&D Advisory|Energy

Location:Calgary, AB

 

THE MANDATE

Reporting to the Co-Head & Managing Director, A&D Advisory, Energy the Associate, A&D Engineer is responsible for completing, coordinating and leading detailed economic and technical analysis including the integration of engineering, geological and financial information, and will work on a variety of divestiture, acquisition and merger mandates for domestic and international clients.

The successful candidate will be responsible for helping to construct and present business development content in the form of studies, market updates, economic performance analysis, and valuation of conventional and unconventional plays, companies and other such upstream work.

Key Accountabilities

  • Play a key role in the execution and completion of technical evaluations, economic performance analysis, illustrative development plans, reservoir and asset descriptions, upside identification and other interpretation related products
  • Assist in generating and presenting pitch materials and management presentations
  • Integrate information from multiple sources to enable more efficient processes, enhanced analysis and/or streamlined reporting
  • Develop solutions and make recommendations based on an understanding of business strategy and stakeholder needs
  • Drive client solutions through team collaboration, technical knowledge and economic analysis

FIRST YEAR DELIVERABLES / MEASURES OF SUCCESS

Success in the first year will be determined by the candidate’s ability to:

  • Provide timely, accurate financial analysis and technical evaluations to team members
  • Build strong working relationships with multi-discipline individuals within the Investment & Corporate Banking Group and other areas of the organization
  • Provide input and advice on improving the efficiency of the team’s processes
  • Demonstrate their abilities with not only executing on the technical work but also building strong presentation documents

 

CANDIDATE PROFILE

The successful candidate will have the following:

Education

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering
  • Professional Engineering designation

Experience

  • 5-7 years combined reservoir, exploitation and/or production engineering experience
  • Experience in acquisition and divesture evaluations
  • Direct experience in evaluating oil and gas plays
  • In-depth technical reservoir experience as well as the ability to apply economic analysis including performance comparison, type curve derivation economics, cost driver, full scale development planning and commercialization concepts
  • Experience or exposure to ValNav, Mosaic, geoSCOUT, AccuMap
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
