Salima Shamji

Salima is a leadership and resilience coach, certified by the International Coaching Federation. She has coached on issues ranging from pivoting strategy during COVID, leading effectively during the chaos, transitioning careers, preventing burnout and effectively communicating in conflict situations. She is currently completing additional certification in Marshal Goldsmith’s Stakeholder Centered Coaching for leaders. She is also a member of the Forbes Women Forum for Female Leaders.

Through her experience, Salima recognizes that influential leaders motivate and inspire their teams towards a clear vision. She has seen firsthand the challenges leaders face in uncertain and complex environments. Salima is passionate about developing leadership excellence. She believes this includes building wellness and resilience within the leader to lead with courage, compassion and clarity in their role. Salima’s unparalleled experiences in leadership, medicine, mindfulness practices and coaching enable her to understand and coach leaders to optimize their potential and lead with purpose and intention.Salima is also a physician with over 25 years of experience in geriatric medicine. She has held leadership positions including Deputy Chief of the Day Hospital where she was instrumental in planning and overseeing a 50% expansion of the program during her term. She effectively developed a strategy to clarify the mission, build a new process, and develop standards for optimal staffing and space utilization for the program. Her experience has required her to communicate and work effectively with various stakeholders, enabling her to see the importance of stakeholders in all leadership roles. She is currently on staff at the Bruyere Memory Program and a professor with the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Ottawa.
